The first Starbucks coffee store has opened in Russia, a year after the firm won a legal dispute that had prevented it from opening in the country.

The outlet, in a Moscow shopping mall, is set to be followed by a second store in the capital by the end of the year.

The menu at the new outlet includes common Starbucks staples such as muffins and dishes aimed at Russian palettes including mushroom sandwiches.

The store is operated on a franchise basis by Kuwaiti firm Alshaya.

Starbucks won a legal fight over its trademark in Russia last year after a Muscovite lawyer claimed ownership of it and sought to sell the rights back to the US firm.
