CIMA members ranked among UK's most powerful business leaders

Eight members of CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) are among those ranked as the key movers and shakers on The Times Power 100 list, as published in The Times on 6 November 2006. The list is comprised of men and women running FTSE350 companies who are considered to be the most powerful leaders in British business. Read original article

The CIMA members who have made the list for 2006 are:

  • Rudy Markham, CFO, Unilever plc (no. 5)
  • Paul Walsh, CEO, Diageo plc (no. 14)
  • Kenneth Hydon, NED, Tesco plc (no. 17)
  • Douglas Flint, CFO, HSBC Holdings plc (no. 34)
  • Philip Yea, CEO, 3i Group plc (no. 61)
  • Andrew Higginson, CFO, Tesco plc (no. 65)
  • George Rose, CFO, BAE Systems plc (no. 67)
  • Peter Jackson, NED, Kingfisher plc (no. 73)

In a further measure of success, two CIMA members have received awards from Accountancy Age Magazine at their annual ceremony on 15 November, which highlighted achievements in the public and private sector. In addition to being number 65 on the Times Power 100 list, Andrew Higginson, has also received an award for Outstanding Industry Contribution from Accountancy Age for his role in the success of Tesco, where he has run the finance department since 1997.

In the public sector, Richard Ennis, FD of Ealing Council, and his team have won the Public Sector Finance Team of the Year award from Accountancy Age for their outstanding efforts in turning around the finances of the Council and achieving some £2.2m in efficiency savings, as well as balancing the books for the first time since the 1990s.
