Some managers actually thrive on big problems. They may think that it shows how great they are at Crisis Management. I wonder how many of them realise that they might have created the monster themselves?

The flip side of this is that when things start going smoothly, because as a good manager you do deal with issues as soon as possible, well... nobody notices! It's expected. I guess I should do a post about how a good manager should always remember to leave their ego at the door.
